MACC is committed to providing opportunities for uniting in worship and support of the faith each of our traditions represents.  Toward this end, this week we will pray for South United Methodist Church.

This Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the 9:30 AM Mass, there will be the scheduled Children’s Liturgy of the Word (Christ for Kids) for children ages 2 through 9.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

BIRTHRIGHT will distribute baby bottles (one per family) after all Masses Mother’s Day weekend, May 10-11.  We ask that you take the bottles home, fill them with coins, cash, or check and return them on the weekend of May 31-June 1.  As you will see from the insert in the bottle, you may make a donation in honor or in memory of a loved one.  BIRTHRIGHT will send an acknowledgement card of your gift of life.  This is an opportunity for our church families to have hands-on involvement in a project that saves the lives of unborn children and makes a lasting difference in the mothers’ lives.  Thank you for any help you can give.

This weekend Botticello Farms will offer for purchase hanging baskets.  The truck is parked in the new parking lot.  They will also offer coupons for hanging baskets for those who would like to select their own baskets at the farm, as well as coupons for flats of flowers.  Proceeds will go to charitable causes.

FOXWOODS TRIP is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2008.  Bus leaves the church parking lot at 8 AM and will return 4:30 PM from Foxwoods.  Cost:  $20/person includes Foxwoods coupons valued at $35.  For reservations, please call Romeo Dube, 646-1326.

JUSTICE FOR IMIGRANTS…a journey of hope

Jeremiah 22:3-4  Yahweh says this:  Practice honesty and integrity; rescue the man who has been wronged from the hands of his oppressor; do not exploit the stranger, the orphan, the widow; do no violence, shed no innocent blood in this place.  CURRENTLY, ON AVERAGE, THERE IS ONE BORDER DEATH PER DAY!  IN THE 10 YEAR PERIOD BEGINNING IN 1995, THERE HAVE BEEN NEARLY 3,000 MIGRANT DEATHS.  Source:  Binational Migration Inst., Univ. of Arizona 2/07  “The number of people who died trying to cross the Berlin Wall during the 28 yrs. (1961-1989) that it was in place was 100.”  Mark Franken, Symposium, Dioc. Of Cleveland, 6/26/02.
