Dear
Parents of our PreK Children:
I want to send you a special welcome and reminder of the
upcoming evening of orientation for parents and children.
On Wednesday, September 6th we are inviting all
PreK parents to attend an orientation night with your child/ren.
We will begin promptly at 6:30 P.M. in the PreK classroom and ask that
you use the PreK outside door as your entrance.
For those who are new, you will find that door on the back (east) side of
the building. It is the third door
as you approach the building by way of the steps next to the dumpsters.
In addition to the materials you are receiving in this
mailing, we will be giving you more specific information regarding the PreK
program and how the day runs. It
will also be a time when your child will be able to interact with his/her
prospective classmates and get to meet the teacher and aide.
We are happy to announce that Mrs. June Edwards is returning and will be
assisted once again by Mrs. Nicole Chalifoux.
We encourage you to ask any questions during our time together.
Given the age of your children, we will try to have you out by 7:30 P.M.
We have a few spaces left for the four year olds in the 5-day
morning session, but many openings in the P.M. for the PreK-4 that runs from
11:30 –2 P.M. on Mon., Wed., Thurs., just in case you have friends who are
still looking for a PreK experience.
If, for any reason you are unable to attend this orientation,
please give us a call so that we will have packets of hand-outs available for
you on the first day of school. Please
note that the PreK program begins after the K-8 grades.
Our first day of school for PreK-4 year olds is Monday, September 11th.
(8 - 10:30 A.M. for morning session; PreK, age 3 at 11:30 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. for
the afternoon session).
We are looking forward to meeting with you and your child,
anticipating a very warm, nurturing and promising experience together.
Sincerely,
Marguerite

Information about our Pre-K Program
Thank you for entrusting your child to us at Assumption School. We are looking forward to working with you in promoting a loving atmosphere in which your children will learn many new and exciting things and have the opportunity for social interaction with new classmates. Our program is enriched by parents involvement and we hope you will join us when you are able. Your help is always appreciated. and welcomed.
We are asking parents to rotate bringing a snack for all of the children to share. A jug of juice and a nutritious snack is advised. Examples of these are: crackers, cheese, fruit, carrots and celery sticks, pretzels, raisins, etc. Mrs. Nicole Chalifoux is our aide and will contact you before it is your turn to supply the snack. There may be times when we will request a specific snack to agree with our theme of the week, e.g., goldfish when we do a fish unit.
If your child has food allergies, please let us know what they are immediately.
We will celebrate all of the children's birthdays by having you bring a special snack on your child's birthday. If the birthday falls on a weekend, holiday or a day your child is not in school, we will celebrate it on the nearest day to the birthday that your child attends school. If your child's birthday is in the summer, we will celebrate it on a day in May.
On a birthday celebration or special holiday, cupcakes, muffins, or cookies are acceptable (these should all look alike for obvious reasons). Please bring in enough for all of the children in the class. We also request a gallon of 100% fruit juice.
Snack time is a very important time in the life of young children and is very much a part of their learning experience. They will learn prayers before eating, experience sharing, engage in meaningful conversation and socialize. Each child takes great pride in serving the other children on the day they bring the snack. They soon begin to remind each other to say "please" and "thank you".
Please dress your child appropriately. Play clothes and sneakers are best. We ask that the children not wear sandals or any open toe shoes nor slippery patent leather ones, all for safety reasons. We go out in all kinds of weather except the most extreme. Do not bring your child to school if they are not well enough to go outside. Children need the experience of outside play. Bring boots, hats, mittens, and warm coats for cold weather and rain gear for slightly rainy days. (The children enjoy looking for worms in puddles). We have a bathroom right in the classroom, but accidents do happen. We ask that you bring us an extra set of clothes (including socks) to keep in their bin during the school year.
In order to keep all of our children safe, please adhere very strictly to our request that at morning session pick-ups and afternoon drop-offs and pick-ups-- all are done by walking your child to the outside door. Do not drive into the parking lot at these times. Morning sessions begin at 8 A.M. (7:45 drop off is acceptable) and end at 10:30 A.M. Afternoon sessions begin at 11:30 A.M. and end at 2:00 P.M. As long as weather permits the children will be in the playscape at pick-up times.
We encourage you to ask questions regarding the program at any time. Please also encourage your child to share his/her school experiences with you, and praise their efforts and accomplishments.
Thank You and God Bless,
Mother Mary Mark, Principal
Mrs. June Edwards
Mrs. Nicole Chalifoux
